If you follow the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and its cantankerous strategist Brad Dayspring on Twitter, you know how they revel in taking constant shots at their Democratic opponents — especially Kentucky secretary of state Alison Lundergan Grimes, who will likely be running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) next fall.
The group took a wild swing at Grimes on Tuesday afternoon with this tweet, which has now been deleted:

The gist of the linked post was that since Michelle Obama had praised the Kentucky Democrat — along with other female candidates, Michelle Nunn of Georgia and Natalie Tennant of West Virginia — Grimes was now the new “Obama Girl,” referencing the viral video from the 2008 campaign.
The Bluegrass Bulletin has since removed the image above from its site because it caused “a stir.”
“The incredibly inappropriate comments from McConnell’s team mark a developing pattern and demonstrate just how out of touch McConnell is with the women of Kentucky,” Grimes responded, according to Sonka’s Twitter feed.
“As I have said, I am proud to wear a dress, and as KY’s more than 2 mill women know, it is not what is in the dress that matters,” she continued, alluding to a comment Dayspring made in September, calling her “an empty dress.”
“It is what is in the head and I will stack my head up against Senator McConnell’s any day.”
Polls have shown McConnell with a commanding lead over his primary opponent Tea Partier Matt Bevin, but the minority leader and Grimes are in a statistical tie.
Josh Holmes, McConnell’s former chief of staff, joined the NRSC this summer to focus on re-electing his boss.
